GAME RULES AND AMENDMENTS

    We apply the National Federation of State High School Basketball Association rules with the following changes/additions:
  • Game will be played in two (2) halves of 25 minutes each.
  • First 23 minutes of each half is a running clock
  • Last 2 minutes of each half is STOP clock, with a 20 second shot clock the last 2 minutes of each half, and Overtime.
  • Last 2 minutes of each half, teams can apply full court Pressure
  • The will be a 20 second Shot Clock Rule within the last two minutes.
  • Overtime is Period is 3 minutes, w/STOP clock
  • Clock stops on substitutions and matchups
  • Timeouts – Four per game, one minute each.  One additional timeout granted in overtime.
  • New Players will be placed on a team based on talent level and team needs
  • No “Over and Back Line” Rule in the Woodmere 60 foot gym.
  • The Backcourt Free Throw Line Extended marks the point a Defensive Player may assume a guarding position.
  • EXCEPTION to the above Defensive Guarding Rule, is the last two (2) minutes of each half, and Overtime.  Teams can apply Full Court Pressure
  • Rebounding-Defensive Rebounder CANNOT contest a player once a foot contacts the floor.  This violation can result in a Technical Foul
  • Elbows extended above the shoulder is a violation at ALL times. If contact is made with a player – this will always be a Technical Foul
  • Unsportsmanlike behavior will not be tolerated.  Most situations are Technical Fouls.  Examples include: Baiting, Foul f*cking language, rough play, arguing with the Referee, & undercutting a jump shot or rebound. If any of the above are in a Flagrant Manner, the situation can and will be dealt with through ejection, game suspension or dismissal from the league.  The use of a five minute player game removal is our preferred Penalty.
  • First Game starts at 6:10 PM.
  • Second Game starts at 7:20 PM
  • No makeup games for cancelled games.  There are 4 Teams in the League.  All 4 Teams make the Playoffs.
  • Jewelry – not permitted to be worn. Rings that cannot be removed must be taped.
  • If you are not able to make your game, contact your Team Captain
  • Deliberate stalling before the last minutes of each half or Overtime will result in ONE warning, and the second occurance will result in a turnover.  This situation will be left up to referee judgment
  • Ten Second Rule – Offensive team has 10 seconds to get the ball over the backcourt free throw line extended.  Failure to do so will be a turnover with no warning.
  • Only the Team Captain is allowed at the Scorer’s Table
  • Pool players are allowed only if a team has less than 5 players.  The Team Captain is responsible to call the pool player.  Only after the Team Captain has called everyone the the Pool Player List, will players already playing in the league be allowed to play.  No exceptions.
  • No pool players are allowed to play in Playoff Games
  • Out of Bounds lines are Yellow on the Sidelines, and White along the Baseline
