A Sad Announcement!

After a nearly two year battle with pancreatic cancer, Ron Taitch passed away yesterday, Saturday, Dec 26, 2015.  Several people learned of it via his Facebook Page, which indicates that a Celebration of Life will be announced witihin the next two weeks.

Many of us have known Ron for the last 15 years or so, since our basketball programs started. Ron stepped to the forefront when several 60 year old players left the Over 50 League to start their own Over 60 League.  Ron literally ran the Over 60 League singlehandedly until his failing health issues a couple of years ago.  Last year we renamed the league in his honor.

Those newer players who never really had the chance to know Ron, missed out on a feisty, funny, unselfish, one of a kind memorable individual.

Those of us that did know him all these years will miss his unique take on love, life and basketball.

Donations will be accepted..

At this point, we don’t know the status of a possible Memorial Service, so we don’t know whether flowers, a donation to the Cancer Society, or some other wish Ron may have had is appropriate, but we will be accepting donations to send a tribute from the League. At the very least, we could send it to Ron’s daughter to help defray expenses.

If you care to contribute, please make your offering to Dwayne at a game or scrimmage.

Team Draft Status…

In reverse order of last year’s standings, teams will be finalized by draft after Wednesday’s scrimmage session.  Each team will have 5 core members from last year, and draft from there. The White Team will have the first selection, the Blue Team second, followed by the Green Team and the Maroon Team.  The next round will be in Reverse Order (Maroon, Green, Blue, White).  At this point, it seems we will have between 28-32 players, depending on last minute commitments and payments.

Final Rosters & Season Schedule will be published on the website shortly thereafter.  And remember, after week 3 adjustments may be made to equzlize an obviously undermanned team.
